Biography

Mr. Zhou is a partner at FenXun. He is an experienced and outstanding litigator and arbitrator, whose clients mainly from major multinational companies and renowned Chinese companies in such industries as automobiles, electronics, retail, manufacturing, energy and banking. The main issues he has dealt with include product liability, trade secrets, intellectual property disputes, financial and commercial litigation, administrative law disputes, as well as anti-bribery matters. He has acted for clients in many high-profile, complex cases. He is an arbitrator of the Shenzhen Court of International Arbitration.

Representative Legal Matters

  • Represented General Electric Company (USA) and General Electric (China) Co., Ltd in a trade secret and copyright litigation against a Chinese company. This case was awarded as one of Ten Best IPR Protection Cases in 2008 by Quality Brands Protection Committee under the China Association of Enterprises with Foreign Investment (medical facilities).
  • Represented a large state-owned company in a trade secret infringement dispute against a domestic company.
  • Represented a multinational in series of trade secret and non-competition disputes against a company (staff collective job hopping).
  • Represented a multinational in a trade secret infringement dispute against a Chinese company (LCD glass substrate technology).
  • Represented a multinational in a patent infringement dispute against a Chinese company (core patent of geological exploration pointing device).
  • Represented Ruder Finn Public Relations Consulting (Beijing) Co., Ltd in a dispute over trade secrets infringement and unfair competition against a Beijing company, and this case is the first trade secret dispute concerning criminal liability ever since crime of infringing trade secrets has been included in Chinese Criminal Law.
  • Represented Infront Sports and Media (China) Co., Ltd and Chinese Basketball Association in a dispute concerning collective image rights (involving unauthorized use of collective images of basketball stars such as Yao Ming, Yi Jianlian, Wang Zhizhi,) and an appeal concerning other commercial rights against Guirenniao, a Chinese company. This case was regarded by Chinese legal society as the precedent case to protect merchandising right under current Chinese statutory laws which is without such right protection.
  • Provided special legal service to Nintendo (Japan) in infringement of its registered trademark within China.
  • Represented a multinational company in trade secret infringement and patent infringement dispute against a domestic company.
  • Represented China Petroleum & Chemical Corporation in a crude oil pipeline construction and transportation agreement related litigation, with largest claim amount, against a Hong Kong-listed company after Hong Kong High Court ruled that the people’s court in mainland China should have jurisdiction over the case.
