13 May 2026 – On 8 May 2026, the launch of the Futian District Overseas Trade Service Center and the Futian District Foreign-related Legal Service Center, together with the inaugural international resource matchmaking event, was successfully held in Futian, Shenzhen. As the first joint initiative following the coordinated operation of the two centers, the event adopted an “Open Day + Matchmaking” format to showcase service capabilities and facilitate targeted international connections.

As one of only two invited legal service institutions, Baker McKenzie FenXun Joint Operation actively participated in the exchange, demonstrating strong cross-border legal expertise and seamless global coordination, while supporting the development of an integrated outbound services ecosystem in the region.

As Chinese companies continue to accelerate their global expansion, demand for compliance, risk management, and resource integration continues to grow. Through the two centers, Futian has brought together more than 1,000 professional institutions into a network spanning over 130 countries and regions, offering support from market entry through to ongoing operations and compliance. During the event, multiple international institutions entered into cooperation arrangements, while companies engaged in in-depth discussions on practical overseas expansion needs, further strengthening cross-border connectivity and service delivery.

During the seminar, Jeff Xu, Partner, Mergers & Acquisitions at Baker McKenzie FenXun, shared insights on cross-border investment and M&A, highlighting the joint operation’s integrated service capabilities. He noted that by combining local expertise with Baker McKenzie’s global network, the firm provides comprehensive legal services across PRC and multiple jurisdictions. In areas such as cross-border M&A, capital markets and regulatory compliance, the firm supports clients in navigating complex global environments and achieving sustainable growth.

Notably, Marco Marazzi of Baker McKenzie’s Milan office participated in the launch via video. He noted that Chinese companies face practical challenges in overseas expansion, including identifying suitable partners, navigating local regulations and building market trust, and highlighted that the center will help address these needs more effectively. He added that Baker McKenzie, supported by its global network and multilingual teams, has long assisted Chinese companies in their international expansion and looks forward to further collaboration with the center and its partners.

Building on joint operation model, Baker McKenzie FenXun continues to strengthen its cross-border legal services presence in the Greater Bay Area. By leveraging global resources alongside local expertise, it provides integrated, multi-jurisdictional solutions, helping companies enhance their global operations and achieve high-quality international expansion.
