Biography

Cassidy Guo leads the patent enforcement and litigation team in China. With over 10 years of practical experience, she has in depth experience in complex IP litigation, particularly patent litigation, standard-essential patent (SEP) and related antitrust and FRAND actions.

Cassidy has advised and represented multinational companies across a broad range of industries including healthcare and life sciences, electronics, manufacturing, technology, telecommunication and others.

Representative Legal Matters

  • Represented a multinational medical technology industry leader against CNIPA (China National Intellectual Property Administration) defending its spinal cord stimulation system patent before the Supreme People's Court.

  • Represented a multinational pharmaceutical industry leader in a patent infringement case before the Supreme Court, which was selected as the Model IP Case of the Supreme Court in 2015 and Guidance Case in 2017.

  • Represented a multinational biopharmaceutical industry leader against the Patent Re-examination Board in a patent invalidation retrial action defending its blockbuster drug before the Supreme People’s Court.

  • Represented a multinational chemical industry leader in a patent infringement dispute before the Shanghai High People's Court, the patent technology involves the production process of acrylic acid and its esters.

  • Represented a leading multinational technology industry leader successfully dismissing patent infringement claims against its core location service before the Shenzhen Intermediate People’s Court, and invalidating patent.

  • Represented a leading multinational technology industry leader in dealing with multiple patent infringement disputes concerning smartphone camera image stabilization components, as well as related invalidation and administrative litigation procedures, before the Intellectual Property Administrations in Beijing, Shanghai, and Shenzhen, and the Shanghai Intellectual Property Court.

  • Represented a leading multinational technology industry leader successfully invalidating patents in defense of patent infringement allegations against client's camera components before the Guangzhou Intellectual Property Court and the Suzhou Intermediate Court.

  • Represented a leading multinational technology industry leader in a series of patent infringement cases before the Fuzhou, Jiangsu, and Beijing courts, and Supreme People’s Court as well as in the related invalidation actions against the asserted patents. The ‘119 patent, upon which a preliminary injunction was issued, was successfully invalidated in the second round invalidation.

  • Represented a leading multinational technology industry leader in several offensive patent infringement actions before the Beijing IP Court as part of the global standard-essential patent licensing war.

  • Represented a leading multinational technology industry leader against several SEP owners in antitrust and FRAND actions, as well as SEP infringement and invalidation actions. The handing courts involve the Beijing IP Court, Fuzhou Intermediate People’s Court, Shaanxi High People’s Court and the Supreme People’s Court.
